“Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.” —Yves Saint Laurent
Fall 2011 Color Trends
If you’re anything like me, you take one look at the models on the runway and think, “How bizarre! Do normal people actually wear that?” The answer is no, or so I hope, but there are some important takeaways you can gather from looks on the runway. The easiest one is color.
Designers create plenty of looks based on the “in” colors for the season, emphasizing hues even more by clothing models in ridiculous amounts of each color. By doing this, though, they make it pretty clear what colors will be hip each season, and sites like Pantone to and Million Looks help us out even more by posting pictures and pallets of the freshest looks for fall.
Wearing colors that are in is an easy way to stay on top of the trends while still wearing simple, basic pieces that can be paired with many outfits and won’t go out of style. For realistic outfits for every day, look at the runway trends here and tone them down about ten notches – the key is to get inspiration and not imitate. Pantone also does an excellent job of summing up this fall’s colors. You can check out their collection here.
