This season, colored tights are all the rage. Stores are carrying everything from mustard yellows to hot pinks and forest greens. But how do you use this fun trend in the office? We’ve got a few handy tips for you.
1. Stick to muted colors. Deep plums, olive greens, and navies are all perfect shades to wear to work.
2. Make sure your outfit matches. Pair a plum-colored top with plum tights or an olive cardigan with olive green tights – don’t go crazy with the color blocking at work. Neutrals are also a good go-to.
3. Wearing a black pencil skirt and black pumps with your muted tights is always a safe bet, except perhaps with navy tights. Navy goes well with light gray.
4. This tip applies to all tights: never, ever wear ripped tights to the office. Even if the hole is barely noticeable or your skirt will cover it, be warned that the hole could expand with the slightest touch.
5. Whenever you wear tights to work, carry clear nail polish in your bag. It’s perfect for quickly patching up a snag and preventing a complete tights meltdown.
Stick to these tips and you’ll be ready to rock this office-friendly trend.
Are you looking for a dream job in the fashion industry? I think you found what you are looking for!
It’s almost laundry day, so all you have left in your closet is a plain tshirt and solid-colored pants. Not to worry, though, if you’ve hopped on this great new trend: collar necklaces (or chokers). These big-statement necklaces can spice up any otherwise dull outfit.
You can pick up collar necklaces anywhere from H&M to Neiman Marcus. Check out our favorite splurge-worthy choker below, the Aesa ribbon collar torque with pearls, $1265.
Trend Alert: Colorblocking
Nope, we’re not talking about making things out of colorful toy blocks. Colorblocking is in, and it’s all about fashion.
Colorblocking means pairing two or more brightly-colored solid pieces of clothing for visual effect. For example, one of the girls around the CakeStyle office is wearing magenta pants and a bright orange sweater today, and it’s a great colorblocking look!
All you need is a few of your summer pieces (maybe that bright yellow cardigan, cerulean t-shirt, and cranberry skirt) to wear together to get in on this fun winter trend. It’s a great way to keep your wintry days from getting dull with all those dark colors and neutrals, plus you can re-use the great pieces you wore all summer – no need to put those away in storage, thanks to colorblocking!
