You know the drill: your favorite band is playing in your city this winter, and you have to pick the perfect outfit to wear. Not only that, but you have to plan for standing in line in the cold and the sweaty, dancing crowd once you get inside. So what should you wear?
We’ve put together three outfits for three types of concert to use as a reference.
1. An alternative rock concert | At this event, we’d suggest keeping it pretty casual. Black skinny jeans are a great staple because they’re much harder to stain if you lean on something gross in the dark. For a shirt, wear a natural material like cotton, which is easy to wash and won’t look as bad if you sweat a little in that hot venue. As always with outdoor-to-indoor transitions, layer up! Most venues have a coat check, so don’t be afraid to bundle up with a cardigan, coat and scarf. You’ll be thankful when you’re standing in line for an hour to get the best seats available.
2. A house music or club concert | For this type of music you might want to dress up a little more, so go for a sparkly dress and heels. Once again, though, layer up with a nice blazer and a coat; clubs are famous for standing outside in a line, and there’s no point being That Girl who wore nothing but her skimpiest dress and is shivering in line for 45 minutes. Finish off your look with a sparkly clutch that matches your shoes.
3. A punk concert with all your hipster friends | Grunge it up, my friend! Throw on your faded, destroyed or bleached jeans, a baggy tank top, a flannel shirt (remember: layers! Your hipster friends will want you to join them for a smoke at least once during the night) and a big comfy coat. Finish it off with a patterned scarf and some comfy shoes – Toms or Chucks work fine.
